Which brings us to the last segment in the Ultimate 3-Step Process to selecting the ultimate headset partnership – the Top 10 Key Headset Factors to Consider BEFORE Choosing the Right Headset…
Top 10 Key Headset Factors to Consider
In reality, there are copious amounts of factors which will impact your final headset choice.
Since it is impossible for us to mention all of these, we’ve compiled a list of what industry believes to be the top 10 leading factors that directly affect your ability to select the best suited headset for an appropriate Headset Category.
*Please note that these factors are ALL key, based on each user’s unique circumstances and needs, and that this list is in no particular order of importance.
- Work Environment
Take a closer look at your work surrounds. What does it look like? For example, is it an open or closed office space, or possibly even outdoors? Always account for noise levels to which you are exposed to in your daily environment when selecting a headset.
Main considerations would be Monaural or Binaural headsets (one or two earpieces) or possibly even noise reducing headphones with appropriate filters.
Does your role require you to move around? Where will you be answering your calls? Are you an Office, Mobile (Field) or Call Centre (Desk) user?
Do you spend a large amount of time using a headset? In such an instance, comfort and durability will be key considerations in your selection process. The last thing you need is a headset that induces physical strain in the neck or back.
What will you be using the headset for? Ask yourself if you require any advanced features or functions which would not be available on the average headset, such as voice prompt dialling for example.
Do you need your headset to connect with any other devices, such as a Desk Phone, Soft (PC) Phone, Mobile Phone, Tablet or other?
- Budget & Preferred Brands
No doubt, price and personal preference play a part when purchasing a product, and this is certainly no different when it comes to choosing a headset. Experience with preferred brands can be beneficial, as long as you’ve done your homework in comparing the value offered from other brands. You don’t want to miss a gem of an opportunity…
- Quality of Customer Service
This is far too often overlooked. All the way through the selection process, purchase and after-sales service, you engage in a relationship with your headset provider. If they are not up to the task, it could lead to an unpleasant all round experience. Your focus should be on appreciating the new headset that you’ve purchased.
With today’s digital advances, it is fairly easy to see what customers are saying about companies and brands on social pages. Do they answer customer queries; and, are customers pleased with the level of support provided?
Be sure to partner with a headset provider who is experienced, friendly and capable!
- Repairs & Warranties
Does your headset provider offer in-house repairs? What is the expected turn-around time of repairs? Do they offer top-up warranties? Knowing the answers to questions like these could save you a great deal of time, and possibly even frustration, in the long run.
You only have one set of ears… protect them! It is always advised to use a headset that will offer you Acoustic & Electrostatic shock protection.
Don’t sacrifice functionality for features. Keep your eye on the goal. You are buying a headset to simplify your tasks, not make them more complex. Be sure to buy a headset that you will enjoy using. Think plug-and-play, software updates, etc.
