Phonatics commitment – We sell original Plantronics equipment via Parallel Imports with full support of this equipment by Phonatics’ Qualified Service Centre

Phonatics (Pty) Ltd. would like to formally state that we sell original and genuine Plantronics equipment and will not sell any refurbished and/or counterfeit products.  Our Plantronics products are supplied to us by a listed Plantronics distributor in the UK and we opt not to disclose their name due to legal reasons.

Phonatics have been officially audited by the Independent Telecommunications Authority of South Africa. This investigation was initiated by the Plantronics distributor of South Africa due to the fact that Phonatics compete directly with them on the same products they sell in this market. The Independent Telecommunications Authority of South Africa who inspected our Plantronics stock found that all the Plantronics equipment we stock and sell is original Plantronics equipment with the same bar code system and packaging. These products come into South Africa the same way as those via the Authorised Distributor.

Attached herewith a link to an article explaining Grey and Parallel Imports published on ITWeb (Channel Portal)

One of the requirements of the Plantronics Distributor of South Africa is that we disclose the fact that we do parallel imports and secondly that we brand all the products as such.  Upon purchasing our Plantronics products, the client will notice distinct branding clearly stating that Phonatics will inhouse support all our Plantronics stock. Our technician has trained under the local Plantronics Distributor and is certified to work on all headset related Plantronics products. He currently has 12 years experience in this field and there are only a few in the South African market that are as qualified and expertly trained to do these repairs.

As far as the warranty is concerned, Phonatics (Pty) Ltd. will support the product exactly as per the Plantronics Warranty. Please keep in mind that Plantronics Incorporated issues a two year warranty on their products and this is passed on to the dealers/distributors of this brand.

At Phonatics, we have the same scenario where our distributor passes the Plantronics warranty on to us, and we do the same. We do not send faulty equipment back to our supplier due to the expense in freight charges (which ultimately filters down to the client). Instead we repair and support these products locally and obtain a RA#4900 claim back as a credit from our supplier in the UK – the same way Plantronics South Africa do.

The following article was placed on ITWeb – Channel Portal:

“Phonatics (Pty) Ltd is the sole distributor of the Freemate (registered trademark) headset products in the South African telecommunications market and has been distributing the brand for more than 12 years. Phonatics also directly import and distribute original Plantronics products, thus making them a parallel importer.  Read more about parallel importing by following this link to a previous IT web article:

Companies that are parallel (‘grey’) importers are required by law to notify customers by means of disclosure on documentation, that they are not authorised by the manufacturer as an authorised distributor of the branded product and that the authorised South African distributor of these products is under no obligation to honour the manufacturers’ guarantees/warrantees or to provide after-sales service, and that the parallel importer will support and service those clients they supply.

A few factors contributed to the decision to import these products directly: the local Plantronics distributor appointed ‘Master dealerships’ to a few companies to supply to the dealer network.  The dealers in return, are meant to supply the products to the end-users.  In practice, ‘Master dealerships’ approach the end-users directly with dealers’ pricing, cutting off the chain of supply to their dealers. The only way for Phonatics to offer competitive pricing on Plantronics products, is to supply the original product via an alternative channel–direct importing.

Phonatics supports all headsets in their new on-site technical workshop and furnish clients with a 24 month warranty on the top-end Freemate headsets – the same as its competitors. The company also supplies a 24 month warranty on Plantronics products and do not rely on any local support for this. Phonatics delivers a 48 hour collection service and commits to a 48 hour turnaround time on Plantronics and Freemate headset repairs and as a result, both these products have an excellent reputation in the industry.  Tracking of Phonatics products is made possible by adding a unique bar code to each headset by which the repair centre can track the date of purchase and the relevant warranty periods of the units.

Phonatics is the only headset company that offers a two year unlimited guarantee at a minimal additional fee of R350 (excluding VAT) upon purchase of the Freemate brand due to the fact that spare parts for each headset are independently imported for the headsets.

The company would like to thank their loyal clients for their continued support and assure them of their excellent products and service well into the future.  Phonatics is dedicated to supply their valued customers, with the best headset solutions and believe that any product is only as good as its support.”
